After making a modest contribution from afar to help the Santorum campaign, the action is now in the neighboring state of Ohio as Super Tuesday approaches.
I have looked on with envy at the pictures/videos/stories shared by my fellow Santorum volunteers in the states that have already held caucuses or primaries. The battle stories of Santorum "boots on the ground" workers help contribute to my burning desire to be "part of the action."
The last few weeks the reality of the April 24 Pennsylvania Primary drawing closer hit me as I nagged friends and acquaintances for a signature to get Rick Santorum on the ballot.
Reality hit me like a slap in the face that this approaching Pennsylvania Primary is not just about the Presidential race with the "endorsement scandal" hitting the local newspapers and radio talk shows. What is the endorsement scandal?
The Pennsylvania Republican State Committee recently held a meeting to decide which candidates to endorse in upcoming non-President primary contests. Apparently in Pennsylvania it is the established practice for the GOP establishment to meet in a "smoke filled room" to effectively decide who will be on the ballot in November with the Republican logo next to their name (in non Presidential races). GOP primary voters are apparently not to be trusted to make the decision. The party establishment endorses a candidate, then throws their considerable resources into assuring that their hand picked candidate wins the primary. The primaries in Pennsylvania (for lower offices) are essentially rigged events with the endorsed candidate historically winning almost all the time.
