Milbank: The birthing of Solyndra
By Dana Milbank - Washington Post

Solyndra is trying to rival her big sister Katrina’s ability to make the federal government look incompetent. But whose baby is she?

Since the solar-energy company went belly-up a few weeks ago — leaving taxpayers on the hook for $535 million in loan guarantees — a business that was once the poster child for President Barack Obama’s green-jobs initiative has instead become a tool for Republicans to discredit most everything the administration seeks to do.

Fascism does not work.  Government handing out money to corporations is like light disappearing into a black hole.  Even worse, there's nowhere for the money to even theoretically come out again on the other side of the universe.

Loan guarantees and other government handouts are massive interferences in what should be a free marketplace and give license to corrupt individuals who pretend to run a company and quickly wind up declaring bankruptcy after spending and hoarding the taxpayers' money.

It's time to just STOP all fascism and make individuals pony up the money--or not.  I'd rather rely on the individual gamblers in the free market than the drooling IDIOTS in government who themselves are on the take.  They cannot know what is best for the future of technology and industry and when they attempt to influence them anyway, they disrupt the marketplace and potentially rob the money that could have been better spent by individual investors on the cure for cancer or the next electronic revolution or a way to efficiently derive power from H2O.
