Point of View • No wonder fatigued conservatives might see Donald Trump as a dream date these days.
This rag-tag group of passionless Republicans that bored America and lost in the last presidential election is back and seemingly determined to extinguish the flame of common-sense conservatism that is burning brightly in 2011.
Let's begin with Senator Lindsey Graham, the lemonade-sipper from South Carolina who never seems to pass on an opportunity to alienate conservatives and refill the rhetorical bullet belts of liberals who already dislike him.
His latest gem?
"Free Speech is a great idea. But we're in a war."
The First Amendment a mere "great idea"?
No.
The McDonald's Happy Meal is a great idea.
The Post-It Note is a great idea.
The paper towel roll that comes in half sheets is a great idea.
But free speech?
That's not just a convenient commodity or lofty pursuit; it's a sacred American value . . .
